Face-to-face Clinical Pilates Classes – move well and feel great
Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned regular, our face-to-face Pilates classes are perfect if you love the energy and atmosphere of a group class.
Under the watchful eye of our highly trained Clinical Pilates Instructors and Physiotherapists, our classes offer a safe, adaptable workout to suit everyone, even if you are recovering from an injury or are dealing with chronic pain.
We’re sticklers for precision! It’s amazing how a small adjustment can completely change how an exercise feels in your body. If you like knowing that someone is carefully observing your movement and will provide hands-on correction to ensure you’re doing everything correctly, then you’ll love training with our team.
You won’t find any loud, thumping music or set choreographed routines. Our Pilates classes are carefully planned and build progressively to establish a strong foundation for movement. They’re expertly designed and taught to help you develop strength, improve flexibility, increase core control and develop better movement strategies.
Many of our lovely students have practised with us for years, so you’re likely to see the same friendly faces at each class and everyone is really encouraging of each other. Our Pilates classes will not give you a great workout but will connect you with others for whom Pilates is a passion.
What is Clinical Pilates?
Clinical Pilates has evolved from the traditional Pilates repertoire which is designed to strength and condition your whole body and improve your health and wellbeing.
However, in a Clinical Pilates class, many of the exercises have been modified by physiotherapists to create a programme of movements which will be suitable for everyone, even if they have back pain or another health issue.
A Clinical Pilates instructor will have a clear understanding of how underlying medical conditions, injury or other physical issues might affect an individual’s ability to undertake specific exercises safely. This expertise means that they will be able to make adjustments to enable all students to participate comfortably at the right level.
In-person Clinical Pilates classes – have fun and build strength
If you want to gain a deeper understanding about your own body and how it moves, then our Clinical Pilates classes might be just what you need.
We’ll teach you about your posture, explore areas of tightness or excessive mobility, help you build strength, breathing deeply and move with better control and efficiency.
This is why you’ll love our Clinical Pilates classes:

Older Adults Pilates

Clinical Pilates classes – specialised for older adults
Pilates is an ideal way for older adults to exercise. You might have noticed changes in your mobility, strength, flexibility or balance as you’ve become older.
Pilates improves all these things and there’s always a way to modify so you feel comfortable on any given day. It’s never too late to learn how to move your body more efficiently, improve mobility and build strength with Pilates.
We offer specialised online Older Adults group classes or 1:1 Clinical Pilates classes for seniors on both mat or reformer and they both have great benefits for over 60s. Some Pilates exercises may need to be modified – especially if you have a specific physical issue like osteoporosis – so it’s important that you are assessed properly and taught alternative movements, so you don’t hurt yourself.
All my Clinical Pilates instructors have experience working with older adults, you can be confident that we will understand any pre-existing physical conditions and be able to work safely with you to reach your individual goals.
How to join one of our 60+ Clinical Pilates classes
If you are a completed beginner, have had surgery or have any pre-existing conditions then we strongly recommend a 1:1 session before starting group classes.
Our instructors will assess your posture, flexibility, core strength, balance and the way you move, to help you understand how to reach your Pilates goals. We will get you moving straight away and design a targeted programme of exercises, sent to you with videos, for you to practice.
In a 1:1 Pilates class, you’ll be introduced to the basic principles of Pilates and you’ll learn some of the key movements and Pilates exercises. Most of the exercises in the Pilates repertoire can modified and gradually built up, so you can work at a level and pace which is comfortable and safe for you.
We run a bespoke service, so whether you call us for a one-off assessment, book into a weekly online Pilates class or a regular private Pilates session, we will always be focusing on your individual needs.
What are the benefits of an older adults Pilates class?
Modified Pilates for older adults offers a low impact way to exercise, which is gentle on your joints, even if you haven’t exercised in a while. With a strong focus on breathing well and the quality of movement, rather than lots of repetitions of each exercise, clinical Pilates is often recommended by healthcare practitioners to older adults.
Pilates exercises help to increase joint flexibility, rebuild strength in the legs and core muscles and improves balance. Clinical Pilates can help a wide range of physical problems experienced by older adults including:
- Low back pain
- Arthritis
- Impaired Balance
- Poor posture
- Joint stiffness
- Osteoporosis
- Stroke
- Post-operative rehab

Beginners Pilates

Beginners Physiotherapist-led Pilates
Beginners Pilates classes are available as 1:1 private sessions – in person at the studio or online – or through our live, online group Pilates classes. Beginners classes are suitable for everyone, regardless of age or level of fitness.
They will all introduce you to the basic principles of Pilates and you’ll learn some of the key movements and exercises. The exercises are modified and gradually built up during each class, so you can work at a level and pace which is comfortable and safe for you.
We strongly recommend a 1:1 session before starting group classes if you are a complete beginner, have any injuries, are pregnant or have recently had a baby. In a 1:1 Pilates session – online or face to face – our physiotherapists will take the time to assess your posture, flexibility, core strength and the way you move, so we can understand how to help you reach your goals. We will get you moving straight away and design a targeted programme of exercises, sent to you with videos, for you to practice.
We run a bespoke service, so whether you call us for a one-off assessment, book into a weekly online Pilates class or a regular private Pilates session, we will always be focusing on your individual needs.
When would a beginners Pilates class be recommended?
Learning the basics well, so they are second nature, means that you will continue to see progress in your strength and mobility. Skipping ahead before you’ve mastered good control, means that you are more likely to hit a plateau down the line. The beginner’s movements build gradually to help you move more efficiently in all activities and form the foundations for our more challenging Pilates classes.
Starting with a beginner’s class is especially important if you have an injury or pre-existing medical condition. Medical professionals often recommend Pilates to those who have had an injury or are recovering from illness or surgery. This is because it’s important to keep moving, both when your body is healing and after the healing process is complete. Movement helps prevent your muscles from becoming weak or tight and it stops your joints becoming stiff and relieves pain.
As physiotherapists we understand how bodies heal and we know how to modify and when to use pilates exercises safely to help those recovering from injury, illness or surgery. We only have physiotherapists with many years of clinical experience on our team, so the chances are that they have helped people with your exact symptoms many times.
Few things are as rewarding as seeing patients return to their normal lives and move freely without pain. So it doesn’t matter what your injury has been or when it happened, get in touch and we’ll talk through the issues, look at your scans and reports and get you moving safely and confidently again.
What will you learn in a beginners Pilates class?
You will learn a lot about your own body and how it moves. You’ll learn about your posture, strength, areas of tightness or excessive mobility, breathing patterns and habitual movement patterns.
You’ll practice some key movements with your physiotherapist and explore different ways techniques to help you achieve greater range and move with better control and efficiency.
Some of the benefits of a beginners Pilates class:
- Improved core control and strength
- Better balance
- Greater flexibility
- Postural awareness
- Breathing well
- More efficient patterns of movement
- General strength and tone for your whole body
- Stress management
- Pain relief
